A 15-year-old boy was found shot to death on Monday just blocks from President Barack Obama’s home in the Kenwood community area of Chicago.

Chicago Police said that they were called to the 5000 block of South Evans Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. and found 15-year-old Cornelius German with a gunshot wound to his back.

Police Department spokesman John Mirabelli said that German was a member of a gang, but did not give a motive for the shooting.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

German lived on the 1000 block East Hyde Park Boulevard, less than two blocks from the Obamas Kenwood home on S. Greenwood Ave.

Earlier this year, 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton was gunned down on the South Side of Chicago just a week after she performed at President Barack Obama’s inauguration.
