‘Star Trek’ podcast gives pop hit ‘Kiss Me’ a Klingon makeover

Pop band Sixpence None The Richer’s biggest hit becomes a karaoke ditty worthy of the Klingon Empire in a new video by a podcast dedicated to the Star Trek franchise.

“HIchop,” Jen Usellis’ version of the band’s song “Kiss Me,” was originally featured on a February 2013 episode of The Improvised Star Trek, which follows the USS Sisypheus — a contemporary of the Enterprise in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe — with episode premises taken from listener suggestions. It took five people to translate the original lyrics into phrasing that was not only grammatically-correct in the Klingon language, but appropriate for the culture; for example, the new title translates into “Bite Me.”
