In this short clip from Monday night’s “Rachel Maddow Show,” host Rachel Maddow told a story from her own experience coming out to her basketball teammates from high school.

During the hand-over from Chris Hayes’ “All In” to the “Maddow Show,” Maddow said, “When I came out, I went back and met with my friends who I played club basketball with in high school to tell them and see if they were okay with it.”

The reaction of one teammate was a bit surprising.

Maddow said, “My co-captain, her reaction to it was, ‘Well, did you ever like me?’ and I said, ‘No, no, man, you’re not my type,’ and she said, ‘Oh…well, why not?’”
