Los Angeles police arrested an unidentified man Wednesday morning following an overnight standoff that allegedly began when he threatened a neighbor with a machete.

KTLA-TV reported that another neighbor filmed the man repeatedly telling police, “shoot me” at one point, before barricading himself in his Hollywood apartment.

“He was angry. He acted kind of manic, kind of like he was on something,” said another resident of the apartment complex, Ashley Masteller. “He was telling the police to shoot him and saying he was going to put everyone in their coffin. He was yelling out specific apartment numbers in our building.”

The man threw his weapon into the bottom of the pool at the complex before retreating. According to KNBC-TV, police threw a “chemical agent” into the man’s apartment around 4:30 a.m. and arrested him. He was seen talking to authorities while wearing a blanket after being arrested.
