Authorities in Massachusetts believe there is “mounting evidence” linking the two suspects in the April 15 Boston Marathon bombing to an unsolved triple-murder case in Waltham, Massachusetts.
ABC News reported on Friday that early forensic evidence and cell phone records put Dzhokar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev in the area around Sept. 11, 2011, when Brendan Mess, Raphael Teken and Erik Weissman were found in a home dead with their throats slashed. The bodies were also found with seven pounds of marijuana dumped on them and $5,000 in cash in the home with them.
Mess and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in a firefight with police on April 19, were once roommates and attended boxing and mixed martial arts classes together. But according to friends and relatives of the victims, Tsarnaev did not attend Mess’ funeral and “vanished” from the gyms where the two men trained. Mess’ loved ones also said they recognized him once pictures surfaced of the Tsarnaev brothers in the wake of the bombing attack.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured on April 20 following an exhaustive manhunt and is currently being held in the infirmary at Fort Devens federal prison.
The Boston Globe reported that Tamerlan Tsarnaev is believed to have been secretly buried in a small Muslim cemetery in Doswell, Virginia.
