A youth minister attempting to procure a 14-year-old girl for sex was among the 92 people arrested in Orlando, Florida during a four-day undercover operation targeting the area’s sex trade. According to NBC News Miami, between May 8 and May 11 police arrested some 12 pimps or procurers, 39 prostitutes, 39 people attempting to pay for sex and two others who were arrested on other charges.
The investigation targeted prostitution websites operating in the Orlando area. Detectives placed ads on the websites pretending to be men soliciting sex or prostitutes soliciting clients, then agreed to meet individuals at a motel room, where police arrested them.
Youth Minister Samuel Yoon, 45, of the Holy Cows youth group of New Community Mission Church in San Leandro, California was arrested when he made arrangements to meet with a person who he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but who was actually a Polk County Detective. Yoon is charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex and use of a two-way communication device to commit a felony.
Other charges filed against individuals netted in the investigation include aiding and abetting prostitution, deriving proceeds from prostitution, possession of illegal drugs and resisting arrest.
