WGHP reported on Wednesday that a bear club climbed a tree near the softball field at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro and was not able to get down.

Animal control officials declined to use tranquilizers to remove the animal. One lane of U.S. 29 South was blocked, and news crews and onlookers were being kept at a safe distance.

The station set up a live video stream and promised to monitor the bear 24/7 until the situation was resolved.

Update: At around 2:45 p.m. ET, WGHP tweeted the bear had climbed down from the tree and was roaming around near the university campus.

Watch the live video from WGHP below.
