Many users experienced an error when trying to access the social networking website Facebook on Tuesday.
Those who attempted to visit the popular site at approximately 9:00 pm ET were met with the error message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We’re working on getting this fixed as soon as we can.” The cause of the downtime is unknown.
The outage sent many Internet users fleeing to other social networking sites, like Twitter.
“Facebook is down? OMG. This is the end . . . find one of those people with a bunker and go inside now!” Twitter user and journalist Kim Ring joked.
“Facebook is down! Users are roaming the streets shoving crappy photos and memes in people’s faces and screaming ‘DO YOU LIKE THIS? DO YOU?’” Twitter user John Yowan added.
But Facebook appears to be back up and running now, though some users have complained the site is loading slowly.
