A Republican congressman from Kansas is standing behind his suggestion that President Barack Obama should not be trusted to secure the border just like President Bill Clinton should not be trusted not to have sex with people’s daughters.

In a tweet on Wednesday afternoon, Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) wrote: “Most House Rs agree w/ most Senate Rs and Americans. Trusting Obama w/ border security is like trusting Bill Clinton w/ your daughter #tcot.”

The congressman explained his remarks to NBC News later on Wednesday.

“I made a comment kind of offhand that trusting Barack Obama with border security was like trusting my daughter with Bill Clinton,” he said. “We just don’t trust him!”

In June, Huelskamp also had quipped that “letting this administration define border security is like letting Bill Clinton define sexual relations.”
