Christian radio host Bryan Fischer dispensed some medical advice on Thursday, advising a caller that confessing one’s sins could take care of physical ailments.

“This is really preventive medicine here,” Fischer told the caller. “You want to be healed, you want to be physically strong, then pray for one another and confess your sins to one another, again, because concealed sin — unconfressed sin, that can cause physical illness.”

Citing the book of James, Fischer encouraged the caller to engage in confression, even though “God stands ready to forgive” if sin is not dealt with.

“Because of the connection between sin and sickness, unconfessed sin can lead to physical sickness and the only cure for that is to confess that sin to God,” Fischer said.
