(Reuters) – Police were seeking a 2-year-old boy believed to have been abducted after a double homicide on Sunday morning in Rhode Island.

Malcolm Crowley, 22, was suspected of abducting the child, identified as Isaih Perez, from a house in Johnston, outside of Providence, Johnston police said.

Two people were killed in the house shortly before dawn, according to police.

Crowley was arrested later on Sunday about 20 miles away by police in Fall River, Massachusetts, but the child was not with him, Johnston police said.

An Amber Alert, a statewide child-abduction notice, was issued for the boy, they said.

Police declined to provide further details about the two people killed and their relationship to the child and Crowley, saying the investigation is ongoing.
