John Oliver: ‘Stop and frisk’ like catch and release fishing — but all the fish are brown

Tuesday night on The Daily Show, host John Oliver ripped into New York City’s stop-and-frisk policy, which allows police officers to detain and search anyone they suspect of a crime. Oliver noted the vast amount of people subjected to stop-and-frisks were black or Hispanic. Daily Show correspondent Jessica Williams — reporting from “the crime-ridden neighborhood” of Wall Street — mockingly said that police needed to start randomly stopping people with tailored suits and slicked back hair to prevent another financial crisis.
