Students and teachers have been evacuated after shots were fired at an elementary school in DeKalb County, Georgia. According to WSB Channel 7, a suspect is in custody.

Police rushed to the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy after receiving a report that shots were fired inside the school building. A reporter at ABC News 7 said that she heard gunshots while she was on the phone with school personnel.

DeKalb County School District spokesperson Quinn Hudson said that an armed man was taken into custody and that all students have been accounted for. No injuries were reported.

UPDATE: WSB-TV reported that the suspect is a white male in his early 20s who was armed with an AK-47 assault rifle. According to several witnesses, the suspect was dressed all in black and surrendered peacefully to police.

Hundreds of parents gathered at a Walmart store near Gresham Road in Decatur to be reunited with their children who were bused to the store parking lot from the school. Parents were asked to present a photo ID for verification before leaving with their child.
