ABC announced on Wednesday that Bill Nye “The Science Guy” had been cast to star in the 17th season of Dancing with the Stars.

During an event on Good Morning America, the network revealed that Nye would be paired with Burlesque actress and dancer Tyne Stecklein.

“I surprise myself,” Nye told ABC’s George Stephanopolous. “Hey, it’s all physics. It’s all study of motion.”

Nye also described Stecklein’s physics as “outstanding.”

A viewer asked “The Science Guy” if he would be incorporating experiments into his dance routines.

“I encourage you all to stay tuned,” he teased. “I think there will be a theme… I like our chances.”

Nye will be competing against Jersey Shore reality star Snooki, The King of Queens actress and former Church of Scientology member Leah Remini, NFL pro Keyshawn Johnson and others.

The most inspirational cast member is certain to be Mary Tyler Moore star Valerie Harper, who will be performing despite a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer.
