President Barack Obama is scheduled to address the issue of a possible U.S. military attack against Syria at 9 p.m. EST on Tuesday.

On Monday, Obama said in an interview with ABC News that Syria’s response to a Russian proposal to give up its chemical weapon stockpile was a “modestly positive development,” acknowledging that Syrian compliance with such a plan would take a U.S. strike off the table.

The address takes place hours after Obama reportedly told senators to delay a vote on whether to approve an attack while seeing if Syria’s reported acceptance of the Russian offer plays out in full.

Watch Obama’s remarks, as aired by NBC News, below.
