Jon Stewart granted Fox News head Roger Ailes with a bit of credit on The Daily Show Thursday night, pointing out that Ailes himself proposed a scenario in which the U.S. would let Russian President (and “shirt-allergy survivor”) Vladimir Putin take the lead on a diplomatic solution to the civil war in Syria.

“If anybody knows how to deal with egomaniacal sociopaths, it’s Roger Ailes,” Stewart offered, pointing toward a collage of pictures of Fox News hosts.

However, that seemed to be lost on Ailes’ employees, as Stewart played a montage of escalating rhetoric from around the network, excoriating U.S. President Barack Obama for allowing Putin to “castrate” him.

“We’ve had our balls cut off and we don’t have any more lunch money,” Stewart mockingly exclaimed.

But Stewart also challenged Putin for his New York Times column challenging Obama’s calling the U.S. “exceptional” by saying “the Lord created us equal.”

“What the f*ck is that?” Stewart asked. “When did Vladimir Putin start watching Oprah?”

Stewart also brought up the anti-LGBT laws passed in Putin’s country.

“That does it, Putin,” Stewart said defiantly. “You want us to go Rocky IV on your a*s?”
