A suspected drunk driver in New Hampshire led police on a high-speed chase over the weekend with his two children in the car.

WMUR reported that a concerned citizen spotted 41-year-old Sean P. Mulcahy drinking at a youth soccer game in Gilmanton on Saturday and notified police.

When officers tried to pull Mulcahy over, he increased speed instead of stopping. Police spokesperson Sgt. Matthew Currier told the station that the suspect ran a police cruiser off the road while trying to flee.

Mulcahy eventually stopped the car and fled on foot. He left behind his girlfriend and two children, ages 7 and 9.

Police said that Mulcahy stole a second car, drove a short distance and then fled on foot again. He was taken into custody soon after that.

Mulcahy was facing charges of operating a vehicle while being a habitual offender, endangering the welfare of a minor, disobeying a police officer and theft of a motor vehicle. He was being held on $3,000 bond at the Belknap County Jail.
