Popular TV “Science Guy” Bill Nye experimented with a new form of stardom on Monday, making his debut on Dancing With The Stars alongside partner Tyne Stecklein.

As it turns out, Nye isn’t a total stranger to the dance floor, showing Stecklein some of his swing-dancing moves early on in their training for their opening number, the cha-cha.

“I love to dance,” Nye told the show’s interviewers. “I can swing-dance, okay. But this is a completely different thing.”

Nye kept his familiar persona for the duo’s debut, playing a scientist alongside Stecklein as his “creation” to the tune of a cover of Oingo Boingo’s “Weird Science.”

“We’re gonna produce a cha-cha experience like you’ve never seen,” Nye promised. “It’ll fill you with joy — or be sort of an unwatchable minute and eight seconds. we’ll see.”

Watch the results, posted on YouTube by user “TheVocalVault” on Monday, below.
