Police arrested a man wearing a Spider-Man costume early Friday after he was accused of trying to rob a Pittsburgh convenience store.

Jonathan Hewson, 21, was charged with robbery after a clerk said he walked in wearing the superhero costume and loudly demanded to know how much money was in the cash register, reported WPXI-TV.

The clerk, identified as Bob Patel, told police he thought he was being robbed and attempted to stun the Spider-Man imposter with a Taser.

The man fled, but the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported that police broadcast his distinctive description.

A University of Pittsburgh police officer and city police officer spotted him about a block away and took him into custody.

At least one passerby snapped a photo of the costumed suspect as he fled.

Atwood, who police said was a finance major at Pittsburgh, was taken to the Allegheny County Jail to await arraignment.
