For his second number on Dancing With The Stars, “Science Guy” Bill Nye channeled his inner Beethoven Monday night, as he and partner Tyne Stecklein did a paso doble to the tune of the composers 5th Symphony, with Nye donning the appropriate wig and vest combo.

The duo was well aware that it needed a good showing this time around, after getting ripped by the judges for their tango.

“We’re taking all of the negative comments that the judges gave us and we’re using that to drive us for Week 2,” Stecklein said during footage of their rehearsals.

Spoilers: the work seems to have paid off, as Nye and Stecklein got good reactions from both the live audience and the judges, with Bruno Tonioli calling him “the ferocious and fierce Maestro.”
