The host of an American Family Association radio program said Tuesday that she wished House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) had the courage of a terrorist.
Sandy Rios, president of Culture Campaign and a Fox News contributor, spoke to Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) about the government shutdown caused by a congressional budget impasse over the Affordable Care Act.
Stockman attacked President Barack Obama because he wouldn’t give in to House Republican demands to delay or defund his signature health care law in exchange for temporarily funding the federal government.
The GOP lawmaker called Obama a “Machiavellian, amazing man that can call John Boehner a terrorist, it’s just beyond the pale.”
In fact, the president accused his opponents of an “ideological crusade” to hold the “economy hostage,” although White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer said Democrats were not open to “negotiating with people with a bomb strapped to their chests.”
Rios quickly agreed with her guest, although she expanded on the comments he’d ascribed to Obama.
“Oh, that he did have the kind of courage that some of the—oh, that’s kind of a dangerous statement I just made,” Rios said. “I think many of us are praying that he will have more courage, there’s no question about that.”
