A reality TV star who recently said that the United States was like Nazi Germany during the Holocaust and is now supporting Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli hilariously stumbled through a TV interview on Wednesday as he tried to remember the name of Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe.

At the Values Voter Summit last week, Jim Bob Duggar used a story about Fox News host Mike Huckabee visiting a concentration camp with his daughter to make a point about the current state of affairs in the U.S.

“As they were walking out of that concentration camp, he said little Sarah looked up at him and she said, ‘Daddy why didn’t somebody do something?’ You know what, that’s where we are at in our nation,” he explained.

Duggar, who stars in the TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting also recently took a job as executive director of Family Research Council Action (FRC Action), a group which opposes equal rights for LGBT people.

On Tuesday, Cuccinelli had joined Duggar at a stop in Richmond as a part of a three-day bus tour in support of the candidate. Duggar’s wife, Michelle, and at least 10 of his children were also in attendance.

“We are excited to travel across Virginia and express our enthusiastic support for Ken Cuccinelli for governor and E.W. Jackson for lieutenant governor,” Duggar said at an event wrapping up the tour on Wednesday. “Both of these men are deeply concerned about the issues impacting the family and our broader culture…. Virginians have an opportunity to send a message at the ballot box that will be heard across the entire country.”

Speaking to WTTG on Wednesday, Duggar repeatedly bungled the name of Cuccinelli’s Democratic opponent, Terry McAuliffe. For 50 painful seconds, Duggar tried and tried again before being advised by his wife to simply refer to McAuliffe as the “opponent.”
