The White House fired a national security staffer last week for operating a parody Twitter account that harshly criticized the Obama administration.

Jofi Joseph, a director in the nonproliferation section of the National Security staff, had been posting under the @natsecwonk account since February 2011.

The 40-year-old Joseph confirmed to Politico that he bears “complete responsibility” for the account, which has been deactivated.

However, the tweets have been saved on favstar.

His tweets became well-known in Washington policy circles for their criticism of top White House and State Department officials and often insulted their intellect or appearance.

He wondered whether Huma Abedin was wearing beer goggles when she met her husband, Anthony Weiner, and called Sarah Palin and her family “white trash.”

Joseph said the account was started as a parody, and he apologized to anyone he insulted.

The White House confirmed Joseph no longer works there but declined further comment on the personnel matter.
