An elderly woman in Florida who had been robbed two days previous awoke Wednesday morning to find a man attempting to rape her.

Alice Dunn said she was awoken when a man standing behind her recliner cupped his hands over her mouth and told her to “get in the bedroom.”

“He came to rape me,” Dunn told WCSH 6 News. Because of the earlier robbery, she had a knife next to the recliner.

“So I started stabbing him,” she said. “But I just couldn’t get it in far enough. I really just wanted to get it in, get it in there, and twist — twist — and twist it.”

The alleged rapist ran off, but police followed a trail of his blood outside the house and the down the street, to a house owned by David Szakalos. When police asked Szakalos to lift up his shirt, he presented two large bandages.

He was arrested for battery of an elderly person and an officer, as he resisted arrest.

“I don’t even know what I’m going to do,” a weary Dunn told reporters. “I want to keep the house open, I don’t want to run the air conditioner, but what can I do? I’m really afraid.”
