The University of Texas at Austin chapter of the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) will be holding a “Catch an Illegal Immigrant Game” on campus Wednesday.

According to event’s Facebook page, “[t]here will be several people walking around the UT campus with the label ‘illegal immigrant’ on their clothing. Any UT student who catches one of these ‘illegal immigrants’ and brings them back to our table will receive a $25 gift card.”

The event is being organized by Lorenzo Garcia, who claims it is intended “to spark a campus-wide discussion about the issue of illegal immigration, and how it affects our everyday lives.”

Earlier this year, Garcia’s group attempted “to spark a campus-wide discussion” about affirmative action by hosting an “affirmative action bake sale.”

Until recently, Garcia worked as a paid field representative for Republican gubernatorial candidate and defiant lawn-waterer Greg Abbott, who is expected to challenge Democrat Wendy Davis in the upcoming election.
