A 4chan user who identified himself as “Stephen” attempted to end his life while 200 people watched on the streaming website Chateen.

“As an oldf*g who’s been on 4chan since 2004, I thought I would finally give back to the community,” he wrote. “I am willing to an hero [commit suicide] on cam for you all.”

With the maximum of 200 viewers watching on Chateen, “Stephen” ingested a handful of unidentified pills and washed them down with a copious amount of vodka. In the video, the combined effects of the pills and alcohol render “Stephen” barely comprehensible.

Shortly thereafter, he used a toaster to light a fire in the corner of his room and retreated under his bed.

“#imdead #omgimonfire,” he wrote from there.

Whether “Stephen” was successful in his attempt to take his own life is still a matter of debate. YourAnonNews, a Twitter account associated with the hacktivist group Anonymous, reported that Stephen is the fatality in discussed in this Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article.

Others claim that he is this injured student from the University of Guelph. What is known is that, at the conclusion of the video, firefighters arrive and pull the body of “Stephen” from under the bed.
