Fox News’ resident psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow declared in a viciously transphobic column for FoxNews.com on Wednesday that he does not believe that transgender people are legitimate, but are actually delusional and in need of treatment.
Like many on the right, Ablow believes that children should be forced to conform to their biological sex, lest gender anarchy erupt and bring about the collapse of all Americans hold dear.
“I know that other psychiatrists may well disagree, and I know that LGBT activists will criticize me, but I believe that allowing this ‘choice’ is profoundly destructive, psychologically, to all students, including the ones who identify themselves as transgender,” he wrote.
He continued, “I don’t see anything but toxicity from the notion of a person with female anatomy feeling free to use the urinal in the boys’ rest room while a boy stands next to her and uses one, too.”
Male students, he fretted, will be so traumatized by girls seeing them “urinating or pulling their pants down to change into football gear” that it will “steal their ability to trust adults, shake their faith in any form of reality, traumatize them by shaming them and kindle waves of completely unnecessary anxiety.”
Transgenderism, he said, is not even legitimate.
“I am not convinced by any science I can find that people with definitively male DNA and definitively male anatomy can actually be locked in a cruel joke of nature because they are actually female,” he said.
The whole idea and the new law, Ablow accused, are a plot by “Governor Brown and liberal politicians,” who are “addicted to disempowering people.”
Who will protect the vulnerable boys and young men of California, he asked, from the ruthless gaze of the transgender man? The new law, he said shakes up boys’ security of knowing that they “can count on not being seen naked by the opposite gender” and is therefore profoundly damaging and traumatizing.
Ablow expressed hope that SSOA will be repealed and that the people of California will stage a recall election to remove Brown from office.
The frequent Fox guest is one of the network’s most reliably bigoted anti-LGBT commentators. In the past, he has called transgenderism “a psychotic delusion — a fixed and false belief.” He has falsely linked same-sex attraction to pedophilia and cited bogus anti-LGBT pseudo-science to claim that same-sex couples are not fit parents.
