Right-wing blogger and Fox News contributor Erick Erickson had an angry meltdown on his blog RedState.com on Wednesday. According to Right Wing Watch, Erickson blasted what he sees as an overly complicit mainstream media as getting “erections for everything Obama does.”
“[Y]ou’d rather have cocktails (pun absolutely intended for a good portion of you ‘journalists’) with the President, jealously size up the competition in the First Lady, and wish you too could be a mistress when you see France’s President and whoever the gal of the week is for him,” Erickson fumed.
“You guys in the press who are reading this right now can be such shameless whores,” he wrote. “(Y)ou journalists have such erections for everything Barack Obama does, you can’t even summon outrage to report fairly on the latest b.s. from the administration over Obamacare. Is it any wonder so many people have stopped trusting you?”
Erickson posted the 4:30 a.m. rant in response to the Obama administration’s decision to allow small businesses more time to comply with the Affordable Care Act’s provisions requiring businesses to insure their employees. The RedState.com founder maintained in his post that if President George W. Bush had taken a similar step, the media would be mercilessly attacking him.
Under the new rules, businesses with 50 to 99 employees will have until 2016 to implement the employee mandate, provided that they did not lay off employees solely in order to reach that number. However, the administration has left a loophole for business that lay off employees for “bona fide business reasons.”
The IRS and federal authorities are simply going to have to take businesses at their word that any layoffs were necessary for business and not undertaken in order to escape the ACA’s requirements. Erickson contends that the liberal media is allowing the administration to escape accountability in a way that it would not have done under the Bush administration.
Advocates of the changes to the law argue that whenever the Treasury Department attempts to implement broad and sweeping laws like the AHA, adjustments are necessary between the policy drawing board and reality.
One administration ally told Politico that the move is “an exercise of the Department’s longstanding authority to grant transition relief when implementing new legislation.”
Erickson said that there can only be one explanation why no one is asking why the administration is so willing to believe what businesses say.
“(W)ith President Obama, half of MSNBC still wants to have his baby and the women over there just want to be his mistress,” accused Erickson. “Hell, France’s President has one.”
In recent weeks, Erickson has aroused the ire of fellow Fox News host Greta Van Susteren and others over his misogynist rantings against “Abortion Barbie,” his nickname for Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis (D).
