A 73-year-old Missouri man with a criminal background and a history of anti-Semitism was arrested Sunday afternoon after shooting and killing three people at a Overland Park, Kansas, Jewish Community Center and affiliated assisted living complex.
Police took Frazier Glenn Miller of Aurora, Mo., into custody at a nearby elementary school, according to the Kansas City City Star.
Witnesses report Miller smiled as officers placed him in the back of a police cruiser. Camera crews recorded Miller yelling, “Heil Hitler,” as he sat in the back of the car.
Police report that Miller shot at five people Sunday afternoon, killing two, William Lewis Corporon and his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood, by the Lewis and Shirley White Theatre located inside the center. Underwood was critically wounded and taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Corporon died at the scene.
The third victim, a woman who has not been publicly identified, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Village Shalom senior living facility nearby.
The shooting at the community center occurred on a day when hundreds of teens had gathered to audition for the KC Superstar competition and a production of To Kill A Mockingbird at the theater.
