Homeless man bites off Florida man’s ear in sudden attack
A homeless man in Florida was arrested last Thursday and accused of assaulting a complete stranger, biting a portion of the unfortunate man’s ear off in the process.
The incident occurred at a grocery store in Immokalee, Florida, according to CBS News. The victim, Rotilio Carranza, claimed he was eating when his assailant, Alexis Santiago, suddenly started a fight with him.
Florida-based NBC 2 reported that when police arrived on the scene, Carranza was seen holding a bloody towel to the right side of his head, with the upper portion of his ear missing. He and his detached appendage were both rushed to a local hospital.
Santiago reportedly fled the scene and led police on a brief foot chase before he was arrested. He’s being held on $120,000 bail, facing charges for aggravated battery and resisting arrest without violence.
It wasn’t clear if his victim’s ear could be reattached.
