Former Republican rising star Liz Cheney has lost the GOP re-nomination for Wyoming's lone seat in Congress.
Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney who held seat for a decade and rose to the position as the number two House Republican, was stripped of her position as the number three Republican after voting to impeach Donald Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 insurrection. She went on to be the vice-chair of the House Select Committee Investigating the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Trump referred to her as "Crazy Liz Cheney," "Loser Liz Cheney" and called her a RINO or "Republican In Name Only."
The former president used Cheney to repeat his lies about election fraud.
"With an approval rating at 19% in Wyoming, people are wise to Liz Cheney," Trump emailed supporters in November. "She is a threat to free and fair elections, which are the cornerstone of our country, because she caved so easily on the Crime of the Century."
"If we had a free and fair media, instead of a corrupt media, those election results would never have been allowed to happen. The proof of irregularities and fraud is massive!" Trump falsely claimed.
On Tuesday, Cheney lost to election denier Harriet Hageman, according to projections by NBC News and CBS News.
After voting in Teton County on Tuesday afternoon, Cheney said that the election would just be the "beginning of the battle."
Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), who replaced Cheney in GOP leadership, put out a statement praising Hageman.
""Harriet is a true America first patriot who will restore the people of Wyoming's voice, which Liz Cheney had long forgotten," Stefanik said.
Trump praised the outcome on his Truth Social platform.
"This is a wonderful result for America, and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political hacks and thugs," Trump posted.
"Liz Cheney should be ashamed of herself, the way she acted, and her spiteful, sanctimonious words and actions towards others," he continued. "Now she can finally disappear into the depths of political oblivion where, I am sure, she will be much happier than she is right now."

On Tuesday, famed actor William Shatner put out a video in partnership with "The Daily Show" brutally mocking billionaire businessman Elon Musk — and tearing into the perception that he is a genius inventor who is changing the world.
“What do you think of when you think of the future?” was Shatner's opening to "The Dailyshowography of Elon Musk, Visionary Futureman," first reviewed by The Daily Beast's Matt Wilstein. "He's part Thomas Edison, part Iron Man, part annoying dude in the group chat."
Shatner then proceeded to present the evidence that "Technoking" Musk might actually be a "supervillain."
“Like so many tech entrepreneurs, he earned his unimaginable wealth by doing something invaluable for society: Selling a start-up you’ve never heard of to a company that doesn’t exist anymore," said Shatner, who described Musk as having a "mid-life crisis" in his 20s, crashing his high-end car and starting his own record label to produce music: "A banger all the more impressive considering Musk had clearly never heard music before. Yes, Elon Musk refuses to stay in his lane, much like a Tesla on auto-pilot."
“And when a Thai soccer team was stuck in a cave, Elon even promised to rescue those kids … from the guy who rescued them!” continued Shatner. “That’s why Musk is such a champion of free speech. If you can’t randomly accuse someone who’s saving people’s lives of being a ‘pedo guy,’ does civil discourse even exist?”

Musk and his claims have come under far greater scrutiny in recent years, including his backstory that downplays his family wealth, the fact that many of his businesses are a disaster and the possible implosion of his hyped deal to purchase Twitter.

Beloved hospital faces security crisis after far-right lies about child patients: report
August 16, 2022
Far-right culture wars and conspiracy theories have created a security threat at a beloved teaching hospital connected to Harvard Medical School.
"Boston Children’s Hospital has warned employees about mounting threats and is coordinating with law enforcement after far-right activists on social media began targeting the hospital with false claims about its treatment of young transgender people," NBC News reported. "It’s the most recent in a series of attempts to target hospitals for their work with trans youth, adding to an ongoing wave of anti-LGBTQ sentiment that has hit libraries, schools and even a trans-inclusive Los Angeles spa."
The hospital sent an email to employees providing guidance after an 'increase of threatening and aggressive' phone calls and emails.
"Boston Children’s Hospital first became the target of activists in recent weeks, when well-followed social media accounts such as LibsofTikTok, which has often promoted “groomer” discourse that falsely linked LGBTQ teachers and parents to pedophilia, began to make a variety of false claims. One allegation said that the hospital offered gender-affirming hysterectomies to children under 18 years old," NBC News reported. "Conservative influencers with millions of followers pushed similar false talking points and fanned the flames further."
In April, The Washington Post revealed the LibsofTikTok account is run by New York real estate agent Chaya Raichik.
"Last week, fact-checking organizations debunked the claims from right-wing accounts, but many of the same accounts continued to spread the false allegations this week," NBC News reported. "Nevertheless, the posts demonizing Boston Children’s Hospital quickly spread through the far-right media ecosystem, promoted by right-wing media personalities including The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh and conservative websites like The Post Millennial and The Daily Caller."
