Taser used on man for refusing to wear seatbelt
“A Rutland man is suing the city, saying police used excessive force when they arrested him.”
“Video of the incident was placed on the web site YouTube by 20-year-old George Griffin’s lawyer. Griffin was taken into custody last summer for trying to fight with people on Center Street.”
“After being put into the front seat of the cruiser, Officer Ed Dumas tased Griffin, claiming he refused to put on a seat belt.”
“Rutland City Police say the use of a Taser was justified, because Griffin would not comply with commands. Griffin says he was in handcuffs and the use of a Taser was excessive.”
“The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.”
