Protesters say racism is behind Texas dragging death
Protesters gathered at an East Texas courthouse to rally against a justice system that they say is racist. Protesters sought to bring attention to the death of Brandon McClelland who was killed by being run over and dragged underneath a truck.
McClellan’s death was originally classified as a hit and run but protesters say it was a hate crime. Both of the men charged with the crime are white while McClellan is black. Authorities say McClellan was killed following an argument with the two men.
“McClelland’s body was dragged about 70 feet beneath a pickup truck and dismembered by the trauma near Paris, a city about 95 miles northeast of Dallas with a history of tense relationships between blacks and whites.”
