A police officer in Sterling Heights, Michigan has been placed on unpaid leave after he posted a meme on Facebook that mocked the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis.
Local news station WXYZ reports that the Sterling Heights officer posted a photo of former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd's neck along with the caption, "When you gotta change a tire but don't wanna get your trousers dirty."
<p>
Floyd's death last year sparked nationwide protests, as Black Lives Matter activists argued that it was a particularly visceral example of racist police brutality in the United States.
</p><p>
Sterling Heights police say that they immediately launched an internal investigation into the racist post after they were alerted to it by WXYZ and the city's chief of police said that the officer who posted the meme could face "serious discipline up to and including termination" depending on the results of the probe.
</p><p>
"If we're not policing our own guys, I don't blame any resident for not trusting a police officer when they get pulled over or arrested," Sterling Heights Police Chief Dale Dwojakowski explained. "As a police officer when you post something it carries tremendous weight."

Manhattan prosecutors now have ‘millions’ of Trump documents after bombshell Supreme Court ruling: report
February 25, 2021
On Thursday, CNN reported that the office of the Manhattan District Attorney has obtained "millions" of records from former President Donald Trump pertaining to his taxes and finances.
Prosecutors reportedly first received the documents on Monday, shortly after the Supreme Court handed down a ruling allowing the returns to be released. The records are still not public, but are in the hands of investigators working for DA Cyrus Vance.

The development comes after years of effort by Trump and his allies to block the release of these records, which date back to 2011. While president, Trump argued that he had absolute immunity from state investigators, a claim that the Supreme Court overwhelmingly <a href="https://www.rawstory.com/2020/07/supreme-court-stuns-experts-with-5-4-ruling-in-trump-tax-case/" target="_blank">rejected</a>.</p><p>The Manhattan DA is particularly interested in whether Trump has <a href="https://www.rawstory.com/new-yorks-trump-probe-finances/" target="_blank">manipulated the valuation</a> of his assets to avoid taxes or fraudulently obtain loans.</p>

Capitol rioter busted by ex-girlfriend he called a 'moron' in text sent from Jan. 6 insurrection
February 25, 2021
A Pennsylvania man was identified as a U.S. Capitol rioter by his ex-girlfriend after he called her a "moron" in a text message sent from the violent assault.
Richard Michetti sent text messages Jan. 6 describing the crowd surging into the Capitol, according to investigators, and his ex-girlfriend said he'd taken a train to Washington, D.C., the day before because he believed the election had been stolen from former president Donald Trump, reported The Morning Call.
<p>"If you can't see the election was stolen, you're a moron," <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/news/capitol-arrests-richard-michetti-rachel-genco-philadelphia-insurrection-20210225.html" target="_blank">Michetti texted</a> his ex-girlfriend, according to court filings. "This is tyranny. They … told us 'We rigged the election and there's nuthin [sic] you can do about it' What do you think should be done?"</p><p>Photo and video evidence shows Michetti milling around the Capitol Rotunda and checking his phone in a crowd outside.</p><p>"Gotta stop the vote it's fraud this is our country," Michetti wrote in another message. "All's we wanted was an investigation that's it. And they couldn't investigate the biggest presidential race in history with mail-in ballots who everyone knows is easy to fraud."</p><p>The Ridley Park man was charged with knowingly entering a restricted building, violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds and obstruction of Congress, and he was released on unsecured bail with electronic monitoring pending an appearance in federal court next week.</p>
