Palin filmmaker outraged at media award for Couric
The University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication will present CBS News anchor Katie Couric with the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Television Journalism for her interview with Gov. Sarah Palin. John Ziegler who made a documentary about the media’s handling of Palin’s vice presidential candidacy is outraged. “I realize outrage is dead, but there are certain things that are so far beyond the pale that we’ve got to call them out,” said Ziegler.
Ziegler believes that Couric’s disagreements with Palin over abortion caused the CBS anchor to give Gov. Palin a bad interview. “What really happened here is that katie couric showed governor palin that she had an agenda on the abortion issue, she kept coming back to it time and time again obviously trying to trap Governor Palin into saying something stupid or extreme,” Ziegler explained. “Everything after that has to be seen in the context of that episode because Governor Palin never trusted Katie Couric after that, and it is very obvious that Katie Couric had an agenda.”
