Nicole Wallace called Tom Ridge a "wussy" for writing that he was pressured to raise the terrorism alert level for political reasons prior to the 2004 election. Perhaps the name calling has worked because Ridge is now backing off those charges.

Ridge told ABC's Diane Sawyer that the system worked. "A consensus was reached. We didn't go up," he said Monday on Good Morning America.

The former Homeland Security secretary may be deemphasizing claims that he was pressured prior to facing off against his critics on the right. Ridge is scheduled to be interviewed by Fox News' Sean Hannity Monday.
