The wife of a Navy fighter pilot is calling for President Barack Obama to pull troops out of Afghanistan now. "I think we should pull out of Afghanistan entirely. I think that after eight years of war it has become quite clear that especially to those of us who are the very few americans who are really suffering in this war that the price is not worth it," Lisa Leitz told CNN's Kiran Chetry Tuesday.

Judge Aileen Cannon will be assigned to oversee at least the initial stages of Donald Trump's classified documents case in Miami, ABC News reported Friday.
"Cannon's apparent assignment would add yet another unprecedented wrinkle to a case involving the first federal charges against a former president: Trump appointed Cannon to the federal bench in 2019, meaning that, if Trump is ultimately convicted, she would be responsible for determining the sentence – which may include prison time – for the man who elevated her to the role," the report explained.
The judge previously helped Trump impose a special master to sift through the documents from Mar-a-Lago. She was not only overruled by a higher court, but they went so far as to accuse her of flouting the law. The three-judge panel accused her of imposing things that have no relevance to the case.
Legal experts speaking to "Morning Joe" on MSNBC explained that her appointment could be due to her overseeing parts of the early stages of the documents investigation. She was appointed as a "special master" to review materials that were seized from Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.
Host Ari Melber explained that the news is coming from the PACER system, which is a public catalogue of federal court records. The Trump filing is assigned to a judge with Cannon's initials. Thought it's possible that she would oversee the arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday, but not the entire trial.
"Usually, when you start a federal case from scratch, there's a random assignment" of a judge, he said. "That's one of the many ways you assure impartiality. It's possible this is being lumped in with the prior proceedings because of the searches, etcetera, which means it wouldn't be the normal random process. It's also possible we don't know who's been assigned to oversee the trial, and this is for the Tuesday arraignment."
Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) also said that Cannon's name wasn't the only one on the summons. Judge Bruce Reinhart was also included.
"It would be common in the federal system for a magistrate to handle the initial proceeding," said McCaskill. "But Ari is right, this may not be in Miami-Dade, this may end up in West Palm and it may be that because of the common practice of assigning a judge a case they have been involved in before, assuming they know the facts, and they're more familiar with everything that's gone on in the case, that may be why her name is on this.
"But I can imagine that there will be some pushing and pulling in the courtroom about her ability to go forward with this case because of the problems that she encountered making rulings in the last case. This would be a real blow, I think, to fairness if this woman ended up presiding over the trial."

"CNN This Morning" co-host Phil Mattingly pulled a prominent Republican Party campaign consultant up short on Friday morning after he tried to make a discussion about Donald Trump's 7-count indictment by a Florida grand jury on Thursday night about President Joe Biden's son Hunter.
Appearing with fellow GOP adviser David Urban, Jennings immediately claimed the Trump federal indictment -- that reportedly includes conspiracy, obstruction and Espionage Act violations -- is bad news for the younger Biden before bringing up former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
"If I were Hunter Biden I would be very nervous," Jennings laughed. "The Republican answer to these overnight has been how is it that Donald Trump's the only person that gets -- first of all you have Hunter Biden running around doing stuff, you got Joe Biden documents in the garage, Hillary Clinton bleaching servers. You know, the one guy who is under federal investigation -- I was postulating outside. What if they did indict him today? Would take that off the table?"
"To be clear, all of those things either have been had been investigated or still part are being investigated," Mattingly interjected.

"That what I'm saying, it's happening right now," Jennings soldiered on. "But the Republican mindset is if you're a Republican or if you're Donald Trump you get held to one standard then if you are the other people. That is the mindset."
MSNBC's Claire McCaskill isn't buying the excuse that Donald Trump kept classified documents as keepsakes from his presidency and instead suggested he was planning on selling them.
The former president has been indicted on charges related to the Espionage Act, and both McCaskill and "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough hinted darkly that Trump was involved in trading top-secret national security information for personal gain.
"He put stooges in high places in the intelligence community to ensure that they would be able to control any revelations they might produce that he saw as threatening," Scarborough said, "and perhaps to enable him to come up with dirt on his enemies. He said he would fire the professionals in the U.S. government in a clear effort to be able to replace them with those who placed loyalty to him above loyalty to the country or our Constitution. Now, this is all known, this is all on the public record. He was a threat to national security long before he stole those classified materials and went to great lengths to illegally retain them."
"On top of that he, after Congress approved weapons for Ukraine, add on top of that, that he blackmailed [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy and said, 'You're not going to get these weapons until you give me dirt on Joe Biden and Joe Biden's family," Scarborough added. "Add on top of that the Marco Rubio-led intel community in the United States Senate said, let's underline this, Donald Trump's 2016 campaign posed a direct threat to America's national security. That's just what we know. These people suggesting that he didn't have malicious intent in mind, they're ignoring a very, very long paper trail."

McCaskill agreed that Trump posed a national security threat and speculated that he was planning to sell classified materials to Saudi Arabia.
"It's just fascinating to me that people in Congress who understand the consequences of what he has done and how he has done it, continue to defend him," she said. "I mean, you know, we've talked about what he would do with these documents. One of the things ... is that he could use them to continue to curry favor with Saudi Arabia, and what could Saudi Arabia do for Donald Trump right now? They could cut production of oil and raise gas prices. Nothing could hurt Joe Biden more than raising gas prices next year, three, four months from the election, and Trump knows that."
"He is willing to do anything to do two things: promote himself and make money, country be damned," McCaskill added.
Scarborough suggested the former president had another motive for selling U.S. intelligence information to the Saudis.
"It's so fascinating that you say that, Claire," he said. "On the Drudge Report, there are all the headlines about the indictments, but at the very top, the headline, 'Saudi crown prince threatened major economic pain on the U.S. amid oil feuds,' and by the way, what was Donald Trump angry about regarding his son-in-law, Jared Kushner? That Jared Kushner got $2 billion for his fund from the Saudis and he didn't get a cut of it. According to reports, he was enraged that he didn't get a cut of the money that Jared went out and raised after he left the White House."
"Maybe, this is again speculation," Scarborough added, "we're not exactly sure why they're not communicating as much, but there was a real bitterness that he didn't get a cut of that money, and there's no doubt he wants a cut, not only of that money, but of Saudi money."
