At a press conference Thursday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced that the military would ease its ban on gays. "Among other things, Gates said the Pentagon is raising the threshold for what constitutes an appropriate level of information necessary to launch a 'credible inquiry' into allegations of homosexual behavior," according to CNN.

Lt. Col. Victor Fehrenbach told CNN that the new changes could help his case.
