Lawmakers in California are trying to repeal a 1950 law that says the State Department of Mental health must seek "cures" to homosexuality. CNN invited an "expert" who says he was cured to explain why the law shouldn't be repealed.

"We know there are people who want to live a homosexual life and there are those who wish to seek change and come out straight," Psychotherapist Richard Cohen told CNN's Kyra Phillips.
