UPDATE VIA AP: "WASHINGTON -- The Secret Service says it questioned and released an overexuberant fan of President Barack Obama who had tossed a paperback book near the president at a Philadelphia rally on Sunday.

"Spokesman Ed Donovan said the man had written the book and hoped the president would read it. Donovan said agents concluded the man posed no danger.

"Obama seemed not to notice the book that landed near him on an outdoor stage after he finished speaking to a large crowd Sunday. The president had turned his back to shake hands with people on another side of the stage." Raw's earlier story follows.

President Barack Obama had a close call in Philadelphia Sunday -- with a book.

The book (whose contents and title are as yet unknown) flew at the President's head from an unknown assailant. The commander in chief didn't appear to notice the danger.

And the book wasn't the only thing out of the ordinary at the Sunday campaign rally: a naked man was also led away in handcuffs. Remarked Britain's The Daily Mail wryly: " It is not clear if the man was involved in the book-throwing incident - or why he was not wearing any clothes."

The paper also noted, "In August a wacky billionaire (Alki David - a shipping and bottling magnate) offered $1 million to the first person who streaks in front of our US President. He promised to pay out the cash providing the streaker writes the name of his website Battlecam across their chest (which the man did)."

The incident recalled a strange attack on President George W. Bush in Baghdad by a man brandishing a shoe. Bush, who obviously saw the projectile coming, ducked.

Photographs of the naked man, the book and a video of the book missing the president appear below. The book flies by Obama's head at 23 seconds into the video.
