On Wednesday, Ivanka Trump posted an image of herself being vaccinated for COVID-19 to Instagram, urging her followers to get immunized as well.
"Today, I got the shot!!! I hope that you do too!" wrote Ivanka. "Thank you Nurse Torres!!!"
But Ivanka's urging fell on unwilling ears. Her post quickly filled up with angry replies from Trump supporters refusing to be vaccinated and suggesting a government conspiracy — despite the fact that the development of the vaccine began under, and was promoted by, former President Donald Trump himself.
"I'm losing respect for the Trump family. So over this virtue signaling," said one poster. Another said, "No thanks! Don't want to be a lab rat. #justsayno." Yet another replied, "Your personal choice but please don't push on others."
"No thanks! With a 99% survival rate, I shall pass. With Bill Gates involved I will not get one," said Rice448.
"Hell no. Why would you post this?" asked kenny_vv.
"Nope not putting that in my body," said call_me_g95.
"Bummer. I was hoping you were above this kind of virtue signaling," rmgvd commented.
"Wow that's extremely disappointing, but honestly I'm not surprised," said heather_15la.
"Nope and please stop trying to manipulate us into doing so. It's surprising to see you doing this now like the left and Hollywood have been," said the__real__american.
In recent weeks, polling indicates the percent of Americans unwilling to be vaccinated has dropped significantly. However, vaccine refusers remain, with white Republicans being among the most hostile group.
Six Senate Republicans are trying to block legislation that would help combat the rise in hate crimes and violence against Asian Americans fueled by the coronavirus pandemic and a former president and members of his party who insist on calling it the "Chinese virus."
Late Wednesday afternoon the Senate voted 92-6 to begin debate on the legislation, known as the "COVID–19 Hate Crimes Act." Six Republicans voted against moving the legislation forward, in an attempt to block its passage.
The six are Senators Tom Cotton (AR), Ted Cruz (TX), Josh Hawley (MN), Roger Marshall (KS), Rand Paul (KY), and Tommy Tuberville (AL).

While a 92-6 vote to begin debate may sound promising, as HuffPost reports, "its path forward remains murky":
"Republicans only backed the initial vote on the condition they would have an opportunity to offer amendments. Their continued support will ultimately depend on whether top Senate leaders can agree on which amendments the chamber will consider in the coming days."
Senators Cruz, Hawley, Marshall, and Tuberville have been accused in various forms for supporting or helping to incite the January 6 insurrection. Senators Cotton and Paul made a point of ignoring the video evidence of the insurrection during former President Donald Trump's January 26 impeachment.
Republicans will try to cover up their involvement in Jan. 6 attack during IG hearing: Pence adviser predicts
Olivia Troye, the former national security and homeland security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, prophesied that Republicans directly involved with perpetuating the lie that inspired the Jan. 6 attack, will try to downplay their actions during the hearing this week.
Speaking to MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace on Wednesday, Troye referenced the Capitol attack report published by the inspector general. In it, the IG says that the "Stop the Steal" rally had a "propensity to attract white supremacists, militia and groups prone to violence."
"All I kept thinking about was [Donald] Trump and the stolen election narrative," she went on. "Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, McCarthy, [Paul] Gosar, all of these individuals played a role in this along with President Trump. Tomorrow when they're questioning the inspector general, when these senators are asking the questions, I will be very curious to see the types of questions they conditioned a how they try to cover up for themselves. This report lays it out clearly these people were significantly driven by the lies they were fed by these people in leadership right now."
