Republican 2012 presidential candidate and multi-millionaire Mitt Romney told a group of unemployed Floridians at a campaign stop that he was also unemployed.
"I should tell my story," Romney said, after listening to the group of unemployed Floridians. "I'm also unemployed."
Although CNN reported that his remarks were greeted with laughter from the crowd, Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz blasted Romney for his "inappropriate and insensitive" joke.
"Being unemployed, Mr. Romney, is not a joke – not to my constituents in Florida or to millions of Americans across the country," she said in statement. "Equating his run for the presidency with the difficulties of these honest hard-working Americans is shocking and is a reflection of his inability to comprehend the struggles of the American people."
