Former House speaker Newt Gingrich's bid for the White House has not been able to outrun nagging questions about debt for months. It was revealed in May that Gingrich had a half-million dollar line of credit at jeweler Tiffany & Co., and he has mostly refused to answer any questions about it, other than to call it "normal."
In an interview with a Boston Fox affiliate, Gingrich expressed confusion about why having a line of credit with the upscale jeweler would be a problem, along with the lavish spending he has done on his campaign (his campaign is already more than a million dollars in debt because of expenses like luxury private jets).
His explanation: "I love my wife, I'm happy we're able to do nice things."
