Ohio Republicans succeeded Thursday in legalizing the carrying of guns in places where liquor is sold, such as bars, night clubs, shopping malls, sports venues and restaurants. The bill was passed earlier in the month.
The new law will permit individual establishments to ban firearms if they wish. It also makes allowances for properly licensed firearm owners to carry a loaded weapon in a vehicle even if it is not properly holstered or secured.
It would not, however, permit the individual carrying a firearm to drink liquor. Violators would be charged with a felony and have their concealed carry license withdrawn.
