House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi vowed Friday to oppose any cuts to Medicare and Social Security benefits as part of a deal with Republicans to raise the debt ceiling.


"We are not going to reduce the deficit or subsidize tax cuts for the rich on the backs of America's seniors and working families," Pelosi told reporters. "No benefit cuts in Medicare and Social Security and we have serious concerns also about the what is happening with Medicaid as well."
