Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was a guest on Morning Joe Monday morning, where he spoke about the difficulties of finding a solution for the debt ceiling.

Instead of a rational discussion, Schumer said, the conversation is being hijacked by the demands of extremist opinions, especially on the right.

"Everyone likes Speaker Boehner. And everybody thinks that Speaker Boehner is, correctly, a decent guy who wants to do the right thing," Schumer said. "There was a feeling at the end of the day he will be able to corral the hundred tea party people who are really way, way out there...But what’s happening is, instead of Speaker Boehner leading the Tea Party, he seems to be following them."
