Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida said Wednesday on MSNBC that she was "unfazed" by an email she received from her fellow Congressman Allen West (R-FL).

West sent a nasty email to Wasserman Schultz on Tuesday afternoon, calling her "the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the U.S. House" after she attacked the “cut, cap and balance” legislation proposed by Republicans.

"You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me," West wrote in his email, which he copied to members of House Republican and Democratic leadership.

She said the email was "not surprising given the pressure that the Republicans are facing."

"They're defending ending Medicare as we know it. Congressman West represents thousands of senior citizens, which is what I was pointing out, and they would face significant increased costs due to the Republican's Medicare plan. It's not surprising he would crack under the pressure of having to defend that."

West lives in the district that Wasserman Schultz represents.
