GOP Rep. Gibson confronted at town hall over anti-tax pledge
Congressman Chris Gibson, a Republican who represents New York’s 20th District, was confronted by one of his constituents last week for signing Grover Norquist’s pledge to not raise tax rates.
“You didn’t sign this on my behalf,” she said. “We’re your constituents, not Grover Norquist.”
Grover’s anti-tax pledge has been signed by 235 House Republicans and 41 Senate Republicans. His lobby group, Americans for Tax Reform, played an outspoken role in the debate over raising the federal debt ceiling.
