Republican presidential candidate and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said Thursday on PBS NewsHour that "people at all levels" would have sacrifice to repair America's budget problems.
"Whether it's recognizing that Medicare is going to be done a little differently; Social Security is going to be done a little differently," he said. "And as president, I wouldn't hesitate to call on sacrifice from all of our people, even those at the very highest end of the income spectrum."
But Huntsman said he didn't mean "higher taxes" and wouldn't elaborate on what "shared sacrifices" he would propose.
"Over time, we're going to figure that out. But I'm not going to give a one-size-fits-all scenario there."
