More than 100 people died in a fire Monday morning caused by a burst gasoline pipeline near the Sinai slum in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi. The fuel exploded, wiping out entire families, after being ignited by embers from nearby garbage fires.
Residents of the slum, who live in rusty metal shacks that rent for $25 a month, and others nearby had tried to scoop up the spilled fuel.
